Loudon Wainwright III 80th Birthday Jubilee
In September, I will hit 80 years old, and the plan is to put on a concert at Town Hall in New York. The date is Saturday September 12. You might think, “That's a scary idea, doing a big show for your birthday. Suppose you screw it up somehow or, even worse, what if nobody buys tickets? Bummer.” My solution: the lineup would include my ridiculously talented family, including my kids, Rufus and Martha, and Lucy Wainwright Roche. Not only that, but I'd get Judd Apatow to be the emcee, and I'd also invite old friends and legends to play—folks I’ve performed and recorded with for more than half a century: Joe Henry, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, John Scofield, Suzzy Roche, Chaim Tannenbaum, David Mansfield, Teddy Thompson, Dave Hill, Wesley Stace, Sloan Wainwright, and Van Dyke Parks. Plus surprise guests!
So my ass is now covered. Aside from the midterms, what could go wrong?
